Alcohol and Cancer Infographic Now Available

The WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Program is pleased to share a new infographic, “Addressing High-Risk Drinking to Reduce Cancer Burden in Wisconsin” just in time for April and Alcohol Awareness Month! Alcohol has been shown to cause at least 7 different cancers, yet high-risk drinking remains a major problem in the state. Decreasing high-risk drinking is a priority of the WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan 2015-2020 and a goal within the WI Cancer Council Policy Agenda.

WI Cancer Council members and our partners are encouraged to use this infographic as an educational tool to increase awareness of the alcohol and cancer connection. To learn more about this issue, members are also invited to attend the WI Cancer Council Annual Meeting on May 11, 2017, where Dr. Noelle LoConte of the UW Carbone Cancer Center and Julia Sherman of the WI Alcohol Policy Project will be hosting a breakout session on alcohol as a cancer risk factor and opportunities to improve the state’s alcohol environment.
