Oncologists Should Promote the Cancer-Preventing HPV Vaccine

The human papillomavirus is responsible for approximately 600,000 of the 1 million new virus related cancer cases each year. However, the HPV vaccine has potential to reduce that number drastically. Dr. Howard Bailey, Director of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, recently called out fellow oncologists to promote the vaccine as it is an “underused intervention”.

WI Receives “A” for Palliative Care Services

The Center to Advance Palliative Care and the National Palliative Care Research Center recently graded each state based on the number of programs per hospital. Wisconsin earned a letter grade A, with 50 of the state’s 57 total hospitals having a specified Palliative Care Program.
