Survivorship care survey in the news

Our statewide assessment of survivorship care has been making headlines!

We surveyed forty cancer centers across the state to determine the state of cancer survivorship care in Wisconsin.

Our survey found gaps in fertility, sexual health, physical activity, and mental health services. Meanwhile, discussion of long-term effects was standard; emotional distress and health practice changes were frequently discussed with patients; and 100% of sites reported offering medical follow-up care, financial counseling, and dietetics.

Outreach Specialist Alexandria Cull Weatherer, MPH, and UW Oncologist Noelle LoConte, MD, recently spoke about these findings with several news outlets. Here is a sampling of those stories:

We want to thank the cancer centers and cancer treatment facilities that participated in this survey and our subsequent community of practice. We also want to thank our survivorship advisory panel for aiding in the creation of the survey.
