On March 24, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives pulled from consideration legislation that would have repealed and replaced the Affordable Care Act (ACA). According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the American Health Care Act (AHCA) would have caused 24 million people to lose health care coverage by 2026. The AHCA was withdrawn from consideration shortly before a scheduled vote, as it became clear that it did not have enough support to pass.
