ASCO Releases Policy Statement on Skin Cancer Prevention

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, with more than 5 million cases diagnosed each year, at an estimated cost of $8.1 billion.

This May, as we honor Skin Cancer Awareness Month, you can learn more about risk factors for skin cancer, disparities in incidence, and public health strategies for prevention, thanks to a brand new policy statement from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

The statement, co-authored by Steering Committee member and UW Carbone oncologist Noelle LoConte, MD, offers policy recommendations for indoor tanning, sun-protection promotion, community education and outreach, and the role of oncology providers.
