ACS Cancer Facts & Figures for African Americans 2016-2018

African Americans have the highest cancer incidence and mortality rates for all cancers combined of any racial or ethnic group across the United States. Between 2008 and 2012, the cancer incidence rates for non-Hispanic black males and females in Wisconsin were higher than in any other state. Over the same period, the death rates for non-Hispanic black males and females in Wisconsin were above the national averages. The American Cancer Society’s most recent Cancer Facts and Figures for African Americans provides and in-depth analysis on selected cancers, risk factors, and outcomes for black Americans. This publication is intended to provide information to cancer control advocates, community leaders, public health and health care workers, and others interested in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment in the black population.
