Two HPV Summits were held in May—one in Wausau on May 11th and the other in Milwaukee on May 12th. The Summits were presented by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WIAAP), Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS) Immunization Program, Scenic Rivers Area health Education Center (SR AHEC) and the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (WI CCC Program). Over 85 people attended the Wausau Summit and nearly 125 attended the event in Milwaukee.
Activating HPV vaccine champions across Wisconsin is critical to increasing HPV immunization
rates and ensuring that all Wisconsin residents have an equal opportunity to prevent HPV-related cancers. The Summits included education on the link between HPV and various cancers, moving survivor testimonials and strategies for improving immunization rates. These efforts align closely with the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan, Priority 4—Increasing HPV vaccine completion. We offer sincere thanks to the dedicated planning team, sponsors, speakers, survivors and Summit attendees.
A variety of resources were shared with Summit attendees, to access them click here. To learn more about WI CCC Program’s work on HPV vaccines, visit our website.
