Part one: TPCP Two-Part webinar series on Implicit Bias

September 17, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

This two-part webinar will focus on navigating implicit biases, diversity and inclusion, and the unintended consequences that can result from public health policies.

This bulletin is being sent to these lists: Tribal Health Directors, Tobacco Prevention and Control, Local Public Health Officers, Local Public Health Department Staff, and key DPH staff.

This webinar will feature Bukata Hayes, Executive Director of the Greater Mankato Diversity Council (GMDC). Mr. Hayes grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has lived in Minnesota for most of his adult life. GMDC formed in 2004 to increase diversity awareness through education, curriculum development, and training for schools, colleges, health care organizations, small businesses, and city and state governments.

Mr. Hayes will lead two 90-minute webinars that will focus on how diversity, inclusion, and identifying personal biases can shape work in public health. He will also discuss how unintended consequences that result from public health policies, including those related to tobacco prevention and control, can marginalize priority populations.

Date and time:

Part I: Thursday, September 17, from 10:00–11:30 a.m.

Part II: Thursday, September 24, from 10:00–11:30 a.m.
