Annual National Lung Cancer Screening Day
November 11, 2023
Please join the National Lung Cancer Roundtable (NLCRT), established by the American Cancer Society, and the American College of Radiology (ACR), and the Radiology Healthy Equity Coalition (RHEC), and the Veterans Health Association, in promoting the Second Annual National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, November 11, 2023. To participate, we are asking screening centers nationwide to open their doors on Saturday, November 11, 2023, and allow individuals to be screened without needing to take a day off work, thereby increasing the accessibility of lung cancer screening overall. By promoting this day to your partners, you will be extending screening opportunities to those who may be unaware of this lifesaving, preventive screening option. You will also be increasing awareness of lung cancer screening within your community. We are asking advocates to help spread the word and to hold an informational screening event, anything to promote screening is welcome way to celebrate this day.
The main purpose of National Lung Cancer Screening Day is to rise above the stigma and celebrate individuals who make the decision to get screened for lung cancer regardless of their smoking history or current smoking status. We want to use this opportunity to inform and empower patients.
The President’s Cancer Panel has charged physicians, advocates, communities, and health systems with communicating and promoting lung cancer screening. We encourage you to spread the word to your screening center and other centers to open their doors on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
