Measuring Sex, Gender Identity, and Sexual Orientation Webinar
April 28, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Even though sex, gender, and sexual identity are essential elements of our identities, there are no standardized measures that could assess these components and their intersectionality. The lack of standardized measures presents a number of barriers, among them, is the difficulty to address disparities in health outcomes by sex, gender, and sexual identity. The George Washington (GW) University Cancer Center would like to invite you to a webinar on principles and recommendations for standardizing measurements for sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Learning Objectives:
– Describe measures than can be used in the general English-speaking adult population to identify sexual and gender minority populations
– Describe methods and considerations used by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) panel to create these measure recommendations
