Let’s Talk — Colorectal Cancer and Mental Wellbeing

March 24, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Individuals with mental health and substance use challenges have lower-than-average cancer screening rates and are at greater risk of developing colorectal cancer than the general population.

Integrating conversations around mental wellbeing and colorectal cancer in mental health and substance use treatment settings encourages cancer prevention and provides better psychosocial support for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.

Join Fight Colorectal Cancer and the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco & Cancer Control on March 24, 12 – 1 p.m. ET for a discussion around supporting individuals with mental health and substance use challenges who are at-risk for or are living with colorectal cancer.

By joining this webinar, you will:

  • Explore the importance of colorectal cancer screening and barriers to screening faced by individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Gain tips for discussing cancer risk and promoting screening for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Find out more about the mental health impact of a colorectal cancer diagnosis.
  • Learn how to manage mental health challenges during cancer treatment and survivorship.

The webinar will feature the following speaker:

  • Erin Baurle, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist, University of Colorado Cancer Center
