Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department: "Community Support for HPV Vaccine Completion"
Grantee: The Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department, a recipient of a 2015 CCC Implementation Grant, works to improve the health of families and communities through promotion of healthy lifestyles, research for disease and injury prevention and detection, and control of infectious diseases.
Project: The “Community Support for HPV Vaccine Completion” project addressed the low initiation and completion rates of the HPV vaccine in adolescents from Shawano and Menominee Counties through provider and public education.
Goal: The project focused on increasing awareness and knowledge about HPV and the HPV vaccine in the Shawano and Menominee county communities through utilizing multiple marketing and media platforms.
Results: Surveys sent to school contacts, health providers, social service agencies, and other community partners before and after the project, found an increase in positive attitudes towards the HPV vaccine among populations.
