DESCRIPTION:This webinar\, hosted by UW-CTRI on April 9 from 12-1pm\, will describe the latest trends in adolescent tobacco/nicotine use with a focus on the newest generation e-cigarettes\, pouches\, and how to help young people live free from nicotine addiction. This includes “smart” vapes. \nAt the end of this session\, attendees will be able to: \n\nDescribe the latest trends in nicotine product use amongst adolescents\nDescribe ways to engage young people in conversations about tobacco and nicotine\nProvide basic treatment and/or treatment referrals for individuals addicted to nicotine\n\nPresenter: Dr. Brian Williams is a clinical assistant professor at UW\, trained in both internal medicine and pediatrics. He works as a pediatric and adult hospitalist at UW Health and also spends time as a tobacco researcher at UW-CTRI. He enjoys helping inpatients of all ages at their times of need and he also has a passion for prevention. Dr. Williams’ tobacco research focuses on identifying and assessing treatment for young people who vape. Ascension Wisconsin aligns with the National Cancer Institute’s definition of a cancer survivor as “An individual is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis through the balance of life. There are many types of survivors\, including those living with cancer and those free of cancer.” As a National Cancer Survivor Day® event\, it is also a “celebration for those who have survived\, inspiration for those recently diagnosed\, a gathering of support for families and an outreach to the community.” There will be a wide variety of breakout sessions that you may attend if you are interested.
