3rd Annual Healthier Schools Workshop – A Success!

Over 100 attendees representing 27 school districts in Wisconsin came together on November 12 in Appleton to learn how to create healthier school environments for students and staff. The workshop was a joint effort between the WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and the Department of Public Instruction with support from additional partners around the state. During the workshop participants heard from award-winning Wisconsin schools, were introduced to evidence-based strategies and tools and had an opportunity to network with their peers. The goal of the workshop is to empower school staff and community members to create environmental changes that gets kids (and staff!) moving more throughout the day and eating healthy. The key message is that healthier students are better learners  and our goal is that they will develop healthy habits for the rest of their life. Additional information, including the agenda and presentations can be found online at wischoolwellness.org. Please contact Michelle Moreau at [email protected] with questions.
